Perhaps it is because I was born in the height of summer (hello, February) or maybe I am just destined to be a summer child forever – but summer in South Africa has always been my favourite season. Even on the hottest days when the heat feels unbearable, I feel it’s hard to be sad or burdened by life’s cares when the summer is shining down in a blaze of glory.
Tamlyn Amber Wanderlust’s Guide to Summer in the Western Cape
Summertime in the Western Cape – and indeed Cape Town – is an especially magical time, where days are punctuated by balmy breezes, soaring temperatures, beach trips and above all, plenty of fun in the sun.
In this post, I have curated some existing content together to provide my guide to summer in the Western Cape. With everything from picnics to road trip ideas, wine farm outings, garden experiences and much more!
All you need to do is click on any of the titles/links below and you will be directed to a wealth of summer inspiration and travel information.
(Some posts are linked more than once, as they apply to multiple sections.)
Fun Summer Inspiration for Families with Kids or Pets
For families with kids and teens, summer in the Cape can feel like an especially long time. School is out for the count and parents struggle to find activities (both indoors and out) to keep children and teens entertained by.
Below are some of my best family-friendly posts to provide some fun summer inspiration for the whole family (yes, even the fur babies):
