In light of the trying times and global devastation that we are currently facing with the COVID-19/coronavirus pandemic, I will not be sharing new travel experience posts or reviews until I feel it is safe and recommended to travel, eat out or explore both locally and internationally again.
This does not mean I will not write new posts – but any that I do write will be entirely inspirational and purely creative writing. Meaning, you will only need to read and enjoy them from the comfort of your home. Think of them as ‘stay put’ posts…
As a travel writer and blogger and thus, someone in the public online sphere, I feel it is my duty to promote care and social responsibility.
It is our responsibility as citizens and nationals to practice social distancing as far as possible; help prevent further spread/contamination; and keep ourselves and our loved ones as safe and healthy as we can in this time.
As such, for the next few months, maybe longer, travel and fun restaurant trips or experiences/outings should take a firm backseat in all our lives. These are not life necessities – you will survive without travelling or dining out!
– Order what you can online – especially to support local businesses, restaurants, wine estates – and promote no-contact deliveries.
– Read a travel guide or travel-themed novel (there are many).
– Watch a good film or series.
– Listen to a podcast series.
– Do a virtual tour from the comfort of your couch.
– Chat with fellow travellers on online groups and stay connected and engaged.
Use this time to work remotely; bond with your family, pets; read online or printed books; study a course; hone your cooking/baking skills; scrapbook or do anything else that inspires you, provides reassurance and helps you grow, while also keeping you safe from unnecessary risk and exposure.
You are always welcome to read over my older posts but I firmly discourage any form of travel during this time. Please treat this outbreak with the utmost seriousness… People’s lives depend on it.
Please be responsible and careful and try stay home as much as possible. If you go out, let it only be because of work/important errands, to meet food/medical needs and of course, for outdoor exercise or walks where you do not need to be surrounded by people. (But again, try avoid public places and crowds as much as you can.)
The reading material I can recommend (both for learning and pleasure) on my blog are the Guests’ Corner posts. Each of these offer fun insights and interviews from fellow travellers and writers.
So even if we cannot travel, we can learn more about the world and live through others’ experiences May their travels and experiences provide inspiration and light during this time.
Stay safe and well, everyone. Our health should always come before everything else – and I say that as a self-professed travel lover.
Wishing you good health, comfort and strength in this time,
