This Kleinmond accommodation escape promises idyllic couples’ getaways, fun one-night stays with larger groups of friends or colleagues and even a wellness retreat for anyone who needs to recharge, refresh and revitalise their soul.
What makes Villa Chad especially alluring is how it is the perfect blend of an international-type stay right here in a quaint South African coastal town.
Because, aside from the quality amenities and facilities, the facade and paintwork bear subtle, yet striking Spanish undertones.
The tropics-inspired garden (complete with a natural swimming pool and delicate birdsong), meanwhile, is a tranquil oasis in its own right, with stunning mountain views.
And the decor of the guesthouse offers everything from African safari-style furnishings with carved wooden figures, ostrich eggs and brightly coloured woven baskets to fast WiFi, a cosy indoor fireplace and beautifully appointed, individually styled rooms besides.
The warm team behind it (which includes owners Suzanne and Ludvig, still new to life in sunny South Africa) are the final and best icing on a truly delightful cake, ensuring a tranquil, carefully curated accommodation stay.
Where We Stayed: Villa Chad Luxury Guesthouse
Perhaps the guesthouse’s biggest bonus drawcard, though, is the impressive mountain views that it enjoys. Particularly from certain rooms, the breakfast room and of course, the main garden area.
Oh and did I mention, when staying here, you are also a quick five-minute drive from Kleinmond’s centre and indeed, some of the most stunning Overberg beaches? 🙂
Best of all, Villa Chad Luxury Guesthouse is designed for solo travellers, couples, tourists and locals or focused wellness retreats.
Beyond this, the property also lends itself well to larger group bookings, as you can book out the entire guest house as a shared space.
This means you get to enjoy the peace and privacy of all seven rooms, as well as the garden, pool, lounge and dining areas too.
Villa Chad offers beautifully appointed rooms, each with their own setup and unique feel. What I love most is that, while the rooms come together in a wonderfully cohesive fashion, you can stay several times and experience a different room atmosphere and look and feel every time.
Villa Chad features three main room options in the beautifully styled, yet characterful Loggia Rooms, a Garden Room that offers heaps of sunshine and direct access to the lush garden and natural pool and lastly, the two-bedroom Private Suite.
This last one is the ultimate option for those seeking a bit of extra luxury and privacy. It’s where I stayed for this review.

As for the guesthouse itself, it has a number of recreational spaces with comfortable furnishings or thoughtful touches (like the delightful fireplace).
These include the beauty treatment room, spacious kitchen (for staff only), breakfast room and even some beautiful products, Kleinmond keepsake gifts and local wares sold at reception.
Restaurant, Bar or Pub On-site?
No, there is no full on-site restaurant for lunch and dinner. However, Villa Chad does serve a stunning daily breakfast.
In fact, it’s one of the loveliest buffet breakfasts I have enjoyed at a guesthouse. Everything was quality and there was such variety, from fresh granola, fruit and full cream yoghurt to great coffee, juice, pastries and more.
It is served buffet-style with the option to also request warm plates, like eggs and bacon or avocado on freshly made toast.
For lunch and dinner meals, the team is happy to recommend excellent local eateries in the immediate Kleinmond area.

On-site Spa?
Yes, Villa Chad offers a great on-site beauty treatment room.
If you need some pampering during your coastal stay, they offer massages, facials, manicures and pedicures, as well as a variety of special beauty treatments in this private space.
Afterwards, why not walk back to your room or out into the garden for some quality alone time or relaxation in your fluffy gown?
Family-friendly?
While Villa Chad warmly welcomes guests to its tranquil property, I must emphasise that it is heavily geared towards solo travellers, couples, friend groups and wellness retreats.
Please be advised that, in light of this, Villa Chad does not position themselves as child-friendly. Simply put, they prefer to offer a peaceful, luxury stay for adults.
Pet-friendly?
No. While the owners truly love animals, Villa Chad is unfortunately not pet-friendly.
Budget-friendly?
Yes, in my opinion because it offers still-affordable luxury accommodation, an incredible daily breakfast buffet and excellent on-site wellness facilities.
They also run online promotions, which offer good value-for-money.
Outdoor Facilities
This safe, secure guesthouse boasts neat lawn spaces, outdoor seating, a natural pool and tropical garden.
Behind the guesthouse, the majestic Kogelberg mountains loom imposingly. They add the perfect dramatic backdrop to your pool time or garden relaxation!
Beyond this, there are plenty of local attractions in Kleinmond and its immediate surrounds.
These include the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve, Harold Porter Botanical Gardens, Stony Point Nature Reserve (home to tuxedo-donning penguins), the rustic Kleinmond Harbour, the scenic Kleinmond Coastal Walk, various nearby MTB trails and hikes (including my favourite Palmiet River hike at Kogelberg), some cute bookshops and boutique stores near the harbour.
There are also possible wild horse sightings, great local cafes and eateries, seasonal whale watching in Kleinmond and Hermanus, stunning beach walks, horse- and pony-rides, several golf courses, wine farms and so much more a bit further afield in the Overberg Region.
Location, Location
Villa Chad Guest House is wonderfully central. It is a short drive from the Kleinmond town proper and the local harbour, which is surrounded by shops and eateries.
Beyond Kleinmond and its attractions, Villa Chad also enjoys relatively close proximity to neighbouring towns, including Hermanus, Pringle Bay, Betty’s Bay and Rooi Els.
Interleading or Family Rooms?
The guest house features seven rooms in total, each with an en-suite bathroom.
Rather than traditional interleading setups, it is ideally configured for private retreats for couples and solo travellers.
As mentioned earlier, group stays and wellness escapes are also easily accommodated here.
